“I am overwhelmed with joy in the Lord my God! For he has dressed me with the clothing of salvation and draped me in a robe of righteousness. I am like a bridegroom dressed for his wedding or a bride with her jewels.”
– Isaiah 61:10 NLT
I actually love this. It reminds me of my own wedding day and all the feelings that followed to the day.
Think about it – we spend months and months preparing for our wedding day. We spend months looking for the perfect wedding dress. We spend weeks planning the perfect reception.
So much detail goes into a wedding; the flowers, the decor, the cutlery, the music and the small little things.
In the same way, that’s also how God prepared us for our spiritual wedding with Christ. He spends months developing us in the womb, woving all of us together, planning our futures. Putting together bits and pieces of our personalities and our looks. He plans all of this with such fine detail.
Then once we are born, He spends our entire lives molding us, guiding us, improving us, leading us, fixing all of our brokenness so that we may be new again. He creates new hearts in us, over and over. He redefines us over and over until the day we come home to Him.
He weaves into our lives all the little fine, small details that until the end of age, our lives on Earth have meant something as servants for Him.
As the brides, we pursue a personal, romantic, deep, spiritual and emotional relationship with Jesus. We spend our lives getting to know Him. We spend our lives living for Him and giving our all to Him. So surely, when it comes to Christ’s return, we should be beyond supernaturally excited to finally be together with Christ for all eternity.
I’m definitely feeling the wedding excitement to be with Christ!
God dressed me with the dress of salvation. When I gave my life to Christ, I became pure. When you gave your life to Christ, just like on the wedding day, you were given the dress of salvation and purity. Then He puts the robe of righteousness on us – just like a wedding veil. How exciting and romantic is that? How majestic, and breathtaking is that? God loves dressing us for our Bridegroom. He wants to make sure that we are ready, and that we are dressed in salvation and righteousness, forgiven, repented, made new just for Christ.
He wants our reunion with Christ to be perfect. He wants it to be holy, because Christ is holy.
I definitely cannot wait to be with my Bridegroom!
Lord, I’m so excited to get to know You. I’m so excited that one day we will be together for all eternity. That my life on Earth leads to You. But while I wait for Your return, I ask You to keep preparing me for Your return. Robe me with righteousness, dress me with salvation, fill my heart with purity, let my feet walk the right and honest path to You. Pursue me and I continue to pursue You.
For I am Yours, and You are mine.
